EPDM (RUBBER) MEMBRANES
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is an elastic synthetic rubber roofing material that is installed by capable crews at Garlock-French Roofing Corporation. EPDM sheets range in thickness from 45 to 75 mils, are black in color, and exhibit a high degree of resistance to ozone, ultraviolet, weathering, and abrasion. Its good low temperature flexibility accommodates building movement very well and therefore is regularly specified for new construction projects where lightweight buildings and roof decks are prone to expansion and contraction.
We can install your EPDM roofing using one of the following application methods: 1) ballasted - where rock or concrete pavers are laid over the top, 2) fully adhered - where the material is glued to insulation board that has been attached to the substrate, or 3) mechanically attached - where the membrane is fastened to the substrate with screws and two-inch diameter plates. Because EPDM is a vulcanized (fully cured) material, seaming is performed by overlapping the sheets and applying an adhesive or double-stick butyl rubber tape. Both seams and flashings require careful attention to ensure good system performance.
