ONE PIECE GUTTERS

There are two different types of one piece gutters. The first is a gutter that is formed on a roll former. This gutter is formed with a uniform height of the back of the gutter and therefore, there is no fall or slope in it. This system gutter is more likely to hold water in it.

The second type is a custom fabricated gutter that is made specifically for each home. The height of the back of the gutter varies so that the gutters slope to a predetermined downspout location.

When ice dam protection membrane is installed and sealed to the flange of this type of gutter, the lower edge is sealed tight, prohibiting water from entering the structure. With the custom gutter, any face profile is possible and the gutters are considerably stronger than any other type. When installing custom gutters on roofs subject to snow and ice slide, we reinforce the lip by wrapping a brass bar into it on our copper gutters.

Built-in gutters are a variation of this type of gutter. They are custom fabricated to fit into the wooden frame of the structure. Another variation is a double bottom gutter, which is similar to a built in gutter, except it has a second ornamental metal cover hiding the functioning gutter.
