Company History

The origins of Garlock-French Corporation can be traced back to 1932 when Russell Garlock started the Garlock Re-Roofing Company. From its beginnings the company served as a small family business focusing on repairs and smaller roof projects. In 1959 John French joined forces with the Garlock Family and the company became known as Garlock-French Roofing. The company remained small and continued to build a solid reputation as trust-worthy “problem-solvers”. In 1984 the company was purchased by the Karel family who had a long standing involvement in the company prior to the purchase. It was at that time that the company grew both in volume and scope of roofing projects. Today the company name is Garlock-French Corporation which includes several offerings including, Cedar Roof Preservation, Chimney Repair, Roof Maintenance, and Photovoltaic’s in addition to roofing work (which is still their core business).The company is still owned by the Karel family (along with other long-term key staff members) and continues to provide peace of mind through meaningful and friendly solutions for its customers.

• The Dow hit its lowest level of the Great Depression on July 8th, bottoming out at 41.22 points.
• Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Republican President Herbert Hoover in a landslide victory.
• The Golden Gate Bridge was not yet under construction.
