ROOFING

Roofing was Garlock-French’s original, and still is its core business. Other divisions grew out of their intersection with roofing. Categorizing roofing is always a challenge and here we have divided roofing into Low Slope and Steep Slope.

We choose to define Low Slope as less than 4/12 pitch (4” rise in 12” run) and steep slope as 4/12 and greater. This definition may differ from some in the industry, but we have set these standards due to the severity of our normal weather cycle and the desire to maximize the performance of the roof system in our climate.

There are times when steep slope systems are used on lower slope roofs and low slope systems are used on steep slope roofs, but they require special consideration for specifications, detailing, underlayment, installation and safety to minimize the impact on the serviceable life of the roofing system chosen.

You will see many options as you check the following pages and we have focused here on the most standard systems. There are systems that are not included for a variety of reasons, but still may be good alternative.

Differences in impact resistance, wind uplift, fire classification, weight, warranty limits and coverages, and cool roof rating, as well as aesthetics such as color and profile make choosing the right roofing system a challenging task.
