METALThe flat locked soldered seam roof is composed of individual panels, approximately 18” x 24”, fabricated with all four edges turned and hemmed over. The panels are held in place with clips fastened to the roof deck and folded into the seams of the individual panels before they are locked together, hammered tight and the seams soldered.
The preferred metal for these roofs is 16 ounce copper because the seams are relatively easy to hammer tightly together for successful soldering.
These roofs are typically installed on smaller size roofs because of the intensity of labor that is required. The details and flashings with flat lock soldered seam roofs are critical for their success.
