TPO

TPO stands for a family of thermalplastic olefin sheets that have a wide variation in chemical composition. These sheets come in a variety of colors and are seamed together by hot air welding. TPO sheets typically come in rolls up to 10 feet wide and 100 feet long and the primary color is white. Thickness of the sheets range from 40 mils to 100 mils.

TPO membranes are usually installed in a mechanically fastened or adhered system, but can also be used in ballasted systems covered with loose ¾”-1 ½“ diameter gravel.

Some of the manufacturers of TPO systems will allow tape to be used with some seaming applications. The success of these systems depend upon the correct specifications of insulation and membrane system for the deck type and the careful application of the system and its details.
