Stone Coated Metal Shingles

Stone coated metal shingles are fabricated from galvanized steel in many different profiles. The panels are then covered with granules that are similar to those used on asphalt shingles and are attached to the panels with an epoxy. The panels are fabricated to look like cedar shakes, tile or asphalt shingles and a large array of colors are available. The substrate needs to be covered with an appropriate underlayment and the metal panels can be attached directly to the roof or to battens installed on the deck.

Because some of the systems can be installed off the roof deck, therefore allowing an air space between the panel and the substrate, the system can reduce the amount of ice that accumulates on the roof.
