Storm Damage?

This summer has had its share of stormy weather.  A large hail storm hit the southern Twin Cities metro area a few weeks ago, and back in late June, we had severe storms that did damage in the central part of the Twin Cities metro area.  In each of these cases, roofing contractors were combing the areas looking for damage and homeowners with roofing issues.  While many of these salespeople and contractors have good intentions, there are some that are somewhat predatory.  In any case, our advice is to be cautious.  Often you may be presented with a form to sign that will get you a free roof replacement.  At that point, you are agreeing to work with that contractor whom will receive whatever your insurance company will pay.  Sounds like a great deal, right?  Well, it is important to understand what you are getting into.  There may be a cancellation fee if you decide not to work with that contractor for whatever reason.  If something does not feel right, do not sign the agreement until your questions are answered.  Call an established local roofer that has a significant local historical presence.  More to come in future blog postings…
